We are proud to announce the launch of our new open-ended alternatives fund: Danske Invest Alternatives - Global Future*. The fund is among the first of its kind in the Nordic area and invests in private equity and infrastructure that is expected to have a positive climate impact.
The investments are managed by a portfolio team from Danske Bank Asset Management, spearheaded by Chief Portfolio Manager Frederik Hoffmann von Holten.
“In the coming years, we expect to see a wide range of attractive investment opportunities in companies and projects that can increase sustainable energy production and contribute to a reduction in CO2 emissions,” says Frederik Hoffmann von Holten.
Investment themes in the fund
Among the fund’s potential investment themes are climate and battery technology, wind and solar energy, electricity transmission, power-to-X technology and more sustainable transport solutions.
“The fund will invest in carefully selected private equity and infrastructure funds as well as co-investments, primarily in Europe and North America. Our aim is to build a broad portfolio with diversified exposure to climate-related private equity and infrastructure investments,” says Frederik Hoffmann von Holten.
He further highlights that at least 50 percent of the investments in the portfolio will be sustainable investments.
As one of the largest asset managers in the Nordics and due to our international network, we have historically had access to a large flow of investment opportunities within alternatives. We also expect that to be the case in the future.
“A major part of our job is to screen the flow of investment opportunities and select the most promising ones that can constitute a strong portfolio. For each investment we commit to, we might very well have screened 10-20 investment opportunities,” Frederik Hoffmann von Holten explains.
Solar and wind energy are among the potential investment themes in the portfolio.
Our goal is to combine the best of two worlds
The new fund is part of our steadily growing EUR 2.7bn AUM illiquid alternatives franchise at Danske Bank Asset Management.
“Alternative investments and sustainability are important strategic focus areas for us – and we have further strengthened our competencies and expanded our product offering here in recent years. With our new Global Future strategy, our goal is to combine the best of both worlds within alternatives and sustainability,” says Danske Bank Asset Management CIO, Thomas Otbo.
