The insurance covers the following:

• SIllness and repatriation: Reasonable and necessary expenses – no limit
• Assault: Up to DKK 250,000
• Curtailment of trip: Reasonable and necessary expenses
• Compassionate visit: Max. of 1 person up to DKK 50,000
• Compensation for hotel accommodation + food per day for up to 6 days: DKK 1,500 per day
• Period of cover: 60 days (for longer trips, only the first 60 days are covered)

Annual travel insurance that covers worldwide travel.

The insurance covers the following:

• Illness and repatriation: Reasonable and necessary expenses – no amount limit  
• Assault: Up to DKK 250,000 
• Curtailment of trip: Reasonable and necessary expenses
• Compassionate visit: Max. of 1 person up to DKK 50,000
• Dækning for hotel + mad pr. dag i op til 6 dage: 1.500 kr. pr. dag

Covers the period from when you pay the deposit for the trip to the date of departure. Up to DKK 15,000 per person and in total a max. of DKK 45,000 per insurance event (total travel cost).

The insurance premium must be paid prior to paying the deposit for the trip (also covers study and language courses abroad, max. of 60 days). For trips over 60 days, only the first 60 days are covered.

Baggage delay:

• The purpose of the insurance cover is not to replace the insured items, but solely to afford the insured the opportunity to address an immediate need by purchasing clean clothes and toiletries so that the purpose of the trip can be accomplished without significant difficulty. Once the insured receives their baggage, their rights are the same as they would have been had the situation not occurred and the insurance does not cover further purchases.

Does not cover:

• Purchase of more items of clothing than can reasonably be considered necessary for use during the baggage delay period.
• The value of purchased items that must be presumed to exceed ‘necessary and absolutely essential’ on the basis of the item’s functional value.
• All types of sports equipment, though sportswear is covered.

Flight delay:

The insurance pays compensation in connection with:

• Booked flight delayed for more than 4 hours. 
• Cancelled flight.
• Insured involuntarily cannot travel on booked flight due to overbooking.
  
  

Compensation

The insurance pays compensation for reasonable and necessary expenses for meals and overnight accommodation if relevant. Expenses must be incurred at the place of delay and are refunded upon presentation of original receipts.

Package includes Priority Pass, which gives access to an extensive lounge programme.

The insurance provides cover for rental of one (1) passenger car for up to 21 consecutive days on condition that the car is driven by the insured, who must hold a valid driver’s licence and be named as driver on the car rental agreement. 

The insurance covers any excess of up to DKK 10,000 payable by the insured in connection with car rental. It is a condition that comprehensive motor insurance was taken out when renting the car. Maximum of 21 days' car rental outside country of residence.

The advantage of this insurance is that you can save money on comprehensive motor insurance when renting a car by opting for a high excess, which this insurance will then cover if relevant.

Please note that in order for the insurance to cover, the car rental must be paid for using the card.

Purchase protection coverage

• Covers physical damage and theft of items (min. price of item of DKK 300) for up to 90 days after purchase. Also covers gifts bought for others using the card. 
• Covers up to DKK 10,000 per insurance event and a maximum of DKK 100,000 per year.
• Physical damage = item does not function as intended (not cosmetic damage). A number of items are not covered, such as jewellery, mobile phones, food, vehicles, plants and animals.

The item must have been purchased using the card. 

Mobile phone insurance

Covers accidental damage (sudden external factors – such as someone bumping into you, causing you to drop your mobile phone, and the glass breaks) and robbery (you are intimidated into handing over your phone). Covers for up to two years after date of purchase. Written down gradually – after 6-12 months, the value is just 50% of the initial purchase price. After 12 months, the value of the initial purchase price is DKK 0.

Covers up to DKK 2,000 per insurance event and a maximum of DKK 4,000 per year.

Accidental damage = repair if possible. Exclusions from cover include moisture damage, simple theft and technical faults. 

The mobile phone must have been purchased using the card.

The insurance policies are provided by Tryg Forsikring A/S with Danske Bank A/S as the policyholder. The insurance is a group scheme with you as the insured party.

Tryg is responsible for advisory services and claims handling under the insurance terms and conditions. If you do not agree with Tryg’s decision regarding a reported claim, you must file a complaint with Tryg.

Below are a few examples of the insurance policies that are typically selected by cardholders:

Mastercard Hverdag+ or Mastercard Basis
Cards do not include any insurance. If you require annual travel insurance, you can add the insurance instead of replacing your card with a Mastercard Guld card.

Annual travel insurance Europe:  DKK 295 per year
Combined with cancellation insurance: DKK 375 per year

Mastercard Guld or Mastercard Platin

Mastercard Guld includes annual travel insurance for Europe, while Mastercard Platin includes worldwide cover. If you travel to a destination outside Europe and you have Mastercard Guld, you can upgrade your annual travel insurance with optional Annual travel insurance Worldwide.

If you often rent a car when travelling abroad, you may benefit from adding car rental excess insurance. With Mastercard Platin, you have baggage and flight delay insurance as well as airport lounge access. It is possible to add this to Mastercard Guld if you would like to do so.

Discount on optional insurance

Annual travel insurance Worldwide: DKK 220.50 per year

Car rental insurance – excess: DKK 202.50 per year (Guld) or DKK 191.25 per year (Platin)

Baggage and flight delay incl. lounge: DKK 333 per year (Guld)

• With Mastercard Guld you currently get a 10% discount relative to Mastercard Basis.
  
• With Mastercard Platin you currently get a 15% discount relative to Mastercard Basis.
  

The discounts apply to all your optional insurance policies. You always get the highest possible discount, but it is not possible to combine the various discounts.

 Optional insurance premiums (Danish)

On condition that the trip is made together with the cardholder, the insurance also covers:

• Spouse/cohabitant (same home address for at least six months) 
• Children under the age of 18 - covers irrespective of whether or not they live with the cardholder (up to the age of 22 if they live at home).

Annual travel insurance must also be in effect before the date of departure, while cancellation insurance must be valid before the deposit is paid on a trip.

Priority Pass gives you access to a large number of airport lounges around the world. The fee is set by Priority Pass, and the number of complimentary visits depends on your agreement.
