How to continue to receive tax relief on Finnish security dividends

Do you hold Finnish securities? We were previously able to assist you in obtaining tax relief on your Finnish dividends without collecting additional documentation from you. Due to new requirements in Finland, you now need to follow the instructions below to continue to receive tax relief on your dividends from Finnish securities.

New legislation means that you have to complete a form

New tax legislation in Finland that took effect on 1 January 2021 affects our ability to continue to provide the tax relief service on Finnish securities. If you would like to continue to receive the service, you need to fill out a form (Investor Self-Declaration). This will enable us to assist you to obtain the tax relief at source, which you will be eligible for with respect to future dividend payments.

What do you need to do?

  1. Press one of the buttons below to go to the relevant form
  2. Read, complete, print, and sign the form
  3. Return the form to us via our secure upload portal at the bottom of this page. Alternatively, you may send it to us via mail to:
    Danske Bank
    33JN Tax Services
    Holmens Kanal 2-12
    1092 København K

We will apply for a tax relief on your behalf for any dividends you will receive in the future, provided that we have received the completed and signed form from you and following our processing of the form.

What happens if you do not complete the form?

If we do not receive the completed form from you:

  • We cannot help you obtain tax relief on your dividends from your Finnish securities
  • We will be obliged to continue withholding the maximum Finnish tax rate of 35%, in addition to your local country’s tax rate

Please note that, as an alternative to completing the form, you can reclaim excess tax with the Finnish Tax Authorities yourself in the tax year 2022 for dividends received in the tax year 2021. For more information and links to the relevant forms, please go to https://www.vero.fi/en/.
