Authentication for online purchases

When you shop online, you must authorize your card payments.

You must approve your payments using either the MitID app or a personal password of your choice together with a one-time text message code. You may not be able to process your purchases if you do not have the MitID app or a personal password ready. Read more about secure online trade.

Choose how to authorize online purchases

  • Authenticate using MitID app

    Use the MitID app.

    We recommend that you use the MitID app, enabling you to authenticate your online purchases quickly and easily.
    If you are not already using the MitID app, you can download it from App Store or Google Play.

    Please note that if you are using Mastercard, you cannot authenticate your purchases with MitID app in the following cases:

    • If you do not have Danske eBanking or Danske Mobile Bank.
    • In some cases, if you make purchases in apps via your mobile phone or tablet.

    Instead, you have to authenticate your purchases using a personal password and one-time passcode sent by text message.

  • Visa/Dankort Authenticate using password and text message passcode

    If you are not able to or do not want to use the MitID app, you need to authenticate your online purchases with a personal password of your choice together with a one-time passcode sent by text message.

    You can create a personal password for your Visa/dankort at www.nets.eu/3ds. You will need a MitID to sign in to the website. You will get the one-time passcode by text message in connection with the purchase.

    Create a personal password for your Visa/Dankort
       
    • Go to www.nets.eu/3ds, and choose ’English’.
    • Click 'Enroll your mobile no and password here'.
     
    • Click 'Next'.
     
    • Type in your card number (The 16 digits on the front of your Visa/Dankort).
    • Then click 'Confirm'.
     
    • Log on with MitID. 
     
    • Type in the password you want and your mobile number.
    • Click 'Confirm'.
      You will now receive an SMS with a one-time password from Nets.
    • Type in the  one-time password you have received  from Nets.
    • Click 'Confirm' to complete the action.
     
    • Confirm Declaration of concent using MitID.
    • You are now ready to use your password for online purchase with your Visa/Dankort.

    From now on, you will receive an SMS with a one-time password when you are paying in a web shop.

  • Mastercard: Authenticate using password and text message passcode

    You can create a personal password for your Mastercard at danskebank.dk/managecards. To log on to the webpage, you need to have a MitID. If you do not have a MitID, you need a temporary PIN to log on to the webpage for the first time. You can order a temporary PIN by calling us on +45 70 123 456, and it will be sent to you by post.

    • Log on with MitID: Type in User ID and and click 'Continue'.
    • Authenticate using the MitID app or the MitID code display.


    • Log on with Temporary PINType in your CPR number and the Temporary PIN you have received by mail.
    • Click 'Continue'.

     


     
    • Type in the 8 digit passcode you have received in a text message.
    • Click 'Continue'.
     
    • Creating the password: Type in and repeat the personal password you wish to use for approval of online purchases with your Mastercard.
    • Confirm by click 'Continue'.
    • Click 'OK'.

    You are now ready to use your personal password for making online purchases with your Mastercard

  • Forgotten password

    Visa/Dankort
    You can create a new personal password for your Visa/Dankort at Nets’ website at nets.eu/3ds. You will need a MitID to sign in to the webpage.

    Mastercard
    You can create a new personal password for your Mastercard at danskebank.dk/managecards. To log on to the webpage, you need to have a MitID. If you do not have a MitID, you need a temporary PIN to log on to the webpage. You can order a temporary PIN by calling us on +45 70 123 456, and it will be sent to you by post.
