When you shop online, you may need to authenticate your card payments.
The easiest way to authenticate payments is to use the MitID app.


To reduce the risk of online card fraud, there are requirements for the authentication of online card payments.

This means that you may need to authenticate your payments using either

  • MitID
  • a personal password of your choice in combination with a one-time password sent by text message.

You may not be able to complete your purchases if you do not have the MitID app or a personal password ready when you shop online.

Use the MitID app, MitID code display or MitID audio code reader
We recommend that you use the MitID app to authenticate online payments but MitID code display and MitID audio code reader can also be used.

Personal password required when you pay using payment cards in apps
If you use your card to make payments in apps, for example for games and purchases of groceries or clothes, you may occasionally need a personal password and a one-time password sent by text message for authentication of the payment. You will not always have the option of using MitID in apps.

You therefor have to create a personal password for making payments in apps. Otherwise, you may not be able to complete your purchase. Please see the guide below.

How to authenticate using a personal password and a one-time password
If you do not use MitID, you need to authenticate your online payments using a personal password in combination with a one-time password sent by text message.

  • Visa/Dankort card
    Create a personal password for your Visa/Dankort card at nets.eu/3ds. You will need your MitID to log on to the website. You will get the one-time password by text message in connection with the payment.
  • Mastercard card
    Create a personal password for your Mastercard card at danskebank.dk/managecards.  
    You will need your MitID to log on to the website. If you do not have a MitID  you need a temporary PIN to log on to the website for the first time.
    You can order a temporary PIN by calling us on +45 70 20 70 20 – it will then be sent to you by post.
