When you shop online, you will experience that you need to authenticate your card payments.
The easiest way to authenticate payments is to use the NemID code app. 


To reduce the risk of card fraud online, there are requirements for the authentication of online card payments.

This means that you may experience that you need to authenticate your purchases using either:
  • The NemID code app or
  • A personal password of your choice in combination with a one-time passcode sent by text message.

You may not be able to complete your purchases if you do not have the NemID code app or a personal password ready when shopping online.  

Use the NemID code app – the NemID code card cannot be used for online purchases

We recommend that you use the NemID code app, enabling you to authenticate your online purchases quickly and easily. You cannot authenticate your purchases with the physical NemID code card.

If you are not already using the NemID code app, you can download it from App Store or Google Play.

Please note that if you are using Mastercard, you cannot authenticate your purchases with NemID in the following cases:

  • If you do not have Danske eBanking or Danske Mobile Bank.
  • In some cases, if you make purchases in apps via your mobile phone or tablet.

Instead, you have to authenticate your purchases using a personal password and one-time passcode sent by text message –below you can see how.

How to authenticate with a personal password and a one-time passcode

If you do not use the NemID code app, you need to authenticate your online purchases with a personal password together with a one-time passcode sent by text message.

  • Visa/Dankort
    Create a personal password for your Visa/dankort at nets.eu/3ds. You will need a NemID to sign in to the website. You will get the one-time passcode by text message in connection with the purchase.
  • Mastercard
    Create a personal password for your Mastercard card at danskebank.dk/managecards. To log on to the webpage, you need your MitID or NemID. If you do not have a MitID or a NemID, you need a temporary PIN to log on to the website for the first time. You can order a temporary PIN by calling us on +45 70 20 70 20 – it will then be sent to you by post.

Do you have a Mastercard but not Danske eBanking/Danske Mobile Bank?
If you have a Mastercard but do not have one of our online banking solutions, you cannot authenticate online purchases using the NemID code app.
Then you have to approve your purchases using a personal password and a text message passcode – above you can see how. This only applies to Mastercard – not Visa/Dankort.
