Secure online trade
When you shop online, you may experience new requirements for the authentication of card payments. The easiest way to authenticate your purchases is to use the NemID code app.
To reduce the risk of card fraud online, we are implementing new requirements for the authentication of online card payments. This is the result of EU rules called PSD2.
This means that you may need to authenticate your purchases with either:
- NemID or
- a personal password of your choice in combination with a one-time passcode sent by text message.
You may not be able to approve your purchases if you do not have your NemID or a personal password ready when shopping online. The requirements have already taken effect for Visa/Dankort, and they will apply to Mastercard from around the end of the year.
The easiest way to authenticate payments is to use the NemID code app
We recommend that you use the NemID code app, enabling you to authenticate your online purchases quickly and easily. You will no longer be able to authenticate your purchases with the NemID code card from around the end of the year.
If you are not already using the NemID code app, you can download it from App Store or Google Play.
How to authenticate with a personal password and a one-time passcode
If you are not able to or would not like to use the NemID code app, you need to authenticate your online purchases with a personal password of your choice together with a one-time passcode sent by text message.
You can create a personal password for your Visa/dankort at nets.eu/3ds. You will need a NemID to sign in to the website. You will get the one-time passcode by text message in connection with the purchase.
For Mastercard, you will not be able to create a personal password until around the end of the year when the new requirements will take effect for Mastercard. This page will later be updated with information about how to create a personal password for Mastercard.

Please contact your operator to find out whether they allow automatically generated text messages sent to you or whether such messages are blocked.
