Useful information
When transferring money to another country, you can do a number of things to make the transfer as safe and low-cost as possible:- Shared costs: We recommend that you and the recipient share the costs so that you pay the costs in Denmark, and the recipient pays the costs abroad.
- IBAN: Always make sure the BIC and IBAN are correct. When you provide IBAN information, we reserve the right to find the payee's bank directly from that number. We are not liable if the IBAN specified by you does not belong to the recipient you provide. If IBAN and SWIFT/BIC are stated and the transactions do not match, IBAN prevails when we select the bank to which the funds are to be sent.

IBAN and Swift/BIC
If you want to transfer money abroad, you need to have certain information from the person who will receive the money (the payee).
- Most countries use IBAN, which stands for International Banking Account Number. The payee can typically find their IBAN under their own account information.
- For countries that do not use IBAN, you must provide the payee's account number AND the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC code instead.
SWIFT stands for Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication. BIC stands for Bank Identifier Code. Most often, SWIFT/BIC is simply called BIC.
In both Danske Mobile Banking and Danske eBanking, you can find help to find the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC code if the payee has not informed you of it.
Transfers from abroad
